Under a contract with the Republic of Yemen's Ministry of Education, NORC will pilot a baseline survey for the World Bank-funded Yemen Education Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme for girls.  The CCT aims to improve the enrollment and retention of girls in grades 4-9. 

The pilot survey will be conducted in select rural areas and will be used as a baseline for carrying out a rigorous evaluation to determine the impact on girls' retention in school as a result of the cash transfers.  The survey will cover 100 school zones with 50 randomly selected eligible households in each school zone for a sample of 5,000 households.  Data to be collected includes household socioeconomic data, and biometric and Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT) data for children. Information on schools and communities also will be collected.
