Gen Xers Skeptical but Interested in Finances

A September 10, 2007 story published by Pioneer Press on the TwinCities.com website noted that Gen Xers have been largely ignored by financial services companies because of their lower income and limited assets and that they want to be informed but they have a low level of trust and a great deal of skepticism. These conclusions are based on a 2003 Journal of Financial Planning paper by Diane Schooley of Boise State University and Debra Drecnik Worden of George Fox University. Their article is based on the 1998 Survey of Consumer Finances, which NORC conducted on behalf of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Data collection for the 2007 SCF is currently underway.
