Clothes Drying Causes Homeowners Association Debate

The Wall Street Journal (Pg. A1) cited data from the Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS) in a September 18, 2007 story about whether homeowners associations should allow residents to hang clothing outside to dry.  The story noted that in the U.S. clothes dryers account for 6 percent of all household energy use.

The story also was reported in Business Report (South Africa) on September 19, 2007.

NORC conducts the survey on behalf of the Energy Information Administration.
