The transition to a knowledge-based economy has necessitated greater attention to the creation and enforcement of intellectual property rights. However, the impact of intellectual property on business outcomes is only partially understood, particularly in international contexts. Data Enclave researchers, drawing on the Kauffman Firm Survey (KFS), are examining the effects of intellectual property policy on research and development, entrepreneurial innovation, and the patenting process.
