Financing choices of companies, in particular, venture capital financing and the choice of capital budgeting decisions has a long and rich legacy in the economics, finance, and business literatures. However, most of the research is on medium and large manufacturing companies or high-tech and biotech startups and there is little analysis of financing decision by small manufacturing and non-IT service businesses. Several of the researchers in the Data Enclave are carrying out work that analyzes the relationships between financial choices – venture capital and equity financing in particular – and entrepreneurship, founding partnerships, and small-firm outcomes.
