  • Academy of Management 2007 Annual Conference
    The Kauffman Foundation sponsored a reception on Sunday August 5th, from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Courtyard Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 21 Juniper Street. Stephanie Shipp, of NIST/ATP, E.J. Reedy of the Kauffman Foundation and Julia Lane of NORC answered questions and provided information about the NORC Data Enclave.

    There was a symposium entitled “New Approaches to Accessing Confidential Business Data” on Monday, August 6, 2007 from 8:30 – 10:20 am at the Philadelphia Marriott, Franklin 12 during which NIST announced funding graduate student/junior faculty fellowships to access the data.

  • Association of Public Data Users 2007 Annual Conference
    • APDU held its 2007 Annual Conference October 25-26 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Alexandria, VA.
    • On Thursday October 25 from 10:50am-noon, NORC Senior Vice President Julia Lane led a discussion on new options and technical approaches to accessing sensitive microdata, followed by Nick Greenia (IRS) who discussed issues related to accessing business data from the perspective of a statistical agency and Henry Jackson (IDES) who discussed issues related to accessing confidential data from a state agency’s perspective. John Haltiwanger also served as a panel discussant.
