Background
Stephen M. Smith, M.A., is Senior Vice President and Director of the Health Care Research Department. He has over 15 years experience conducting survey research projects in the health field. Smith is the current project director of the National Social Life, Health, and Aging Project (NSHAP), a survey of 3,000 community-residing older adults (aged 57 to 84) that focuses on sexual behavior, health, relationships, and other topics. This highly complex data collection, supported by the National Institutes of Health, includes an extensive survey questionnaire, including many sensitive topics, as well as the collection of biological samples.
