Background
Jon R. Gabel is a Senior Fellow in the Health Care Research Department at NORC. Mr. Gabel is best known for his work managing the Employer Health Benefits Survey sponsored by the Health Research and Educational Trust and the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. This well known annual survey of employers provides a detailed look at trends in employer-sponsored health coverage, including changes in premiums, employee contributions, and cost-sharing policies.
Mr. Gabel's extensive publication record includes more than 120 scholarly articles, as well as Congressional testimony on insurance-related issues before the House Ways and Means Committee, the Federal Trade Commission, state legislatures, and the Department of Labor. He is frequently quoted by media and has appeared on national television news networks.
Prior to his tenure as Vice President at the Center for Studying Health System Change, Mr. Gabel's served as Vice President for the Health Research and Education Trust, director of KPMG's Center for Survey Research; Associate Director of the Health Insurance Association of America; and Director of Research of the Group Health Association of America.
